The nature fee (a few dollars per activity) is mandatory but easy to overlook — pay it at the STENAPA office before you head to the trailhead or dive shop, and keep the receipt. Rangers do spot-check, and more importantly, that fee is what actually funds the trails and mooring buoys you're using. Ask them to point out which trail is 'best today' — recent rain, wind direction, and iguana nesting seasons all change the answer.
