Why Go
There's no printed menu, no fussy dining room, no reservation portal - just a chalkboard outside, three specials, and Carmen (a.k.a. Lollipop) shouting hello from the kitchen. Perched on the twisting road between Windwardside and The Bottom, this family-run bar-restaurant-and-B&B feels less like an establishment and more like being adopted for the evening by a Saban aunty who happens to cook exceptionally well.
The Experience
You walk in past the two pool tables and the little swimming pool, grab a plastic chair on the terrace with its wide Atlantic view, and someone brings you a cold beer without asking. Carmen's husband is running the kitchen; you can hear the goat stew bubbling. Locals drift in, a taxi driver eats at the next table, and by dessert you're arguing about dominoes with a stranger. It's the anti-resort experience - loud, warm, unpolished, and entirely Saban. Dinner options are limited (usually three), portions are generous, and the pace is 'island soon-come.' If you want white tablecloths, keep driving; if you want the real Saba, you've arrived.
What to Try
The goat stew is the house legend - slow-simmered, deeply spiced, and the reason regulars keep coming back. Oxtail runs a close second, falling off the bone in a rich gravy. If the board lists whole red snapper or mahi-mahi, order it - the fish is fresh off the pier at Fort Bay. Saturday BBQ lunches with grilled fish are a local ritual worth planning around, and if pizza is on (dough is made fresh daily), it's a surprisingly great late-night call.

Call ahead - always. There's no walk-in guarantee, the day's specials sell out, and Carmen will happily hold a plate if she knows you're coming. Even better: ask about the complimentary pick-up and drop-off. Lollipop's runs its own taxi service for diners, so you can skip the white-knuckle drive down Saba's hairpin road after a rum or two. Peek at the chalkboard outside before you commit; if the goat stew is up, that's your answer.
