Why Go
You come to Saba for cloud forest hikes and vertical drop-offs — then you check into a candy-colored gingerbread cottage with its own gazebo hovering above koi ponds and forget the rest of the itinerary exists.
The Experience
Lily Pond Cottage is a standalone traditional Saban cottage on Park Lane in Windwardside, run under the umbrella of family-owned Juliana's Hotel just up the road. Instead of a hotel room, you get an entire private cottage wrapped in lush gardens — think croaking tree frogs at night, hummingbirds at breakfast, and a small waterfall trickling into lily ponds you can watch from your own gazebo. Inside, a great room combines a four-poster queen bed with a comfortable sitting area, all built around the cottage's original stone hearth. The fully equipped kitchen means you can cook in, but the covered side porch — draped in tropical plants — is where most guests end up eating. The bathroom, crafted from local Saba stone, feels more spa than lodging. It's quiet, romantic, and unmistakably Saban, but you still get hotel-grade support: daily maid service, breakfast included at Tropics Café up at Juliana's, Tommy Bahama toiletries, AC, ceiling fans, satellite TV, and free wifi.
What to Try
Claim the gazebo with a book and a rum punch at golden hour, when the light hits the ponds and the frogs start their evening chorus. Ask the Juliana's team to pack you a picnic breakfast so you can eat on your own porch instead of walking up the hill. And do at least one dinner in — the kitchen is genuinely equipped, and picking up fresh fish and produce in the village is half the Saba experience.
Insider Tip
The cottage sleeps two comfortably, but the great room is roomier than the website photos suggest — traveling companions can share without stepping on each other. Also: request the hammock in the side garden be set up on arrival; it's the best napping spot on the island, and staff won't assume you want it out unless you ask.

Location: Park Lane 7F, Windwardside — a 3–5 minute walk to the village center for restaurants, shops, and the trailheads. Managed by Juliana's Hotel (+599 416 2269, WhatsApp available). Rate typically includes daily breakfast at Tropics Café, maid service, wifi (one device per guest), AC, ceiling fans, hair dryer, and pool/dive towels — pool access is at Juliana's up the road. Best suited to couples or two friends; not a family-of-four setup. Book well in advance — Saba has very limited inventory and this cottage moves fast in high season (Dec–April).
