Why Go
Named for Saba's tiny five-square-mile footprint, this pocket-sized gallery punches far above its weight — a curated snapshot of Caribbean and specifically Saban creativity, where a $3 card and a signed original can hang on the same wall.
The Experience
Step off the cobbled lane in the heart of Windwardside and into a bright, thoughtfully lit room that owners Gersh Geenty and Emilie Declippeleir have run since 2011 (the space itself has been a gallery in various guises since the 1990s, first as The Breadfruit, then The Peanut Gallery). The walls rotate through original paintings, drawings, giclees, sculptures, wood carvings and folk art — much of it made on-island. The centerpiece for most visitors is the watercolor work of Dutch-born Saban artist Heleen Cornet, whose lush botanical mural graces the interior of the Sacred Heart Church down in The Bottom; seeing her small-format pieces here first makes that church visit hit twice as hard. Pottery and mixed-media from other resident artists round out the collection, and the owners travel the Caribbean regularly hunting new voices, so the inventory genuinely turns over.
What to Try
Ask to see Heleen Cornet's rainforest and endemic-flora watercolors, and browse the giclee prints if an original is out of budget. The greeting card rack is the sleeper hit — hand-illustrated Saba scenes for a few dollars that ship home flat in your carry-on. Wood carvings and small sculptures from local folk artists make the most distinctive souvenirs.

Originals start under $50 and cards at $3, so don't be intimidated — this is a working gallery, not a vanity project, and Gersh or Emilie are usually on hand to talk you through who made what. If a specific piece grabs you, ask about the artist's story; half the value of a Saba art purchase is the provenance you'll retell back home. Cash is appreciated on an island where card terminals can be temperamental.
