Why Go
On an island where shipping in something new means waiting weeks and paying dearly for it, Boomerang flipped the script: Saba's first second-hand and upcycle shop turns what would otherwise leave the island as waste into somebody else's next favorite thing. Debbie Verdult and Terri Bakker opened the doors on Earth Day 2023, and it has quietly become the most sustainable stop in Windwardside.
The Experience
Step through the little gate into Pete's Cottage on Pasture Street and you're in a bright, lovingly-curated jumble of pre-loved clothing, kitchenware, books, dive fins, small furniture, hardware, and hand-built 'Boomed' pieces that local artists have coaxed out of tractor tires, colanders, feed sacks, coffee bags, and scrap lumber. The vibe is part community living room, part island flea market ΓÇö Debbie or Terri will usually be there to chat, hunt for something specific with you, or point out the newest arrival that just came in that morning. Inventory turns over constantly, so no two visits look alike.
What to Try
Dig through the 'Boomed' shelf for a one-of-a-kind Saba souvenir made entirely from repurposed island materials ΓÇö a coffee-sack tote or a colander pendant lamp weighs far less in your suitcase than the usual gift-shop ceramics. Divers and hikers should scan the gear corner for barely-used fins, dry bags, or trekking odds and ends at a fraction of new-shop prices, and grab a 'Boom A Box' if you're outfitting a longer stay.

Ask about the Wishlist: if you're looking for something specific (a French press, a beach chair, a particular size of hiking boot), Debbie and Terri will put it on the list and tap their overseas network ΓÇö items often turn up within a couple of weeks at well below retail. It's also the easiest way islanders and repeat visitors kit out an apartment without ordering everything in from St. Maarten.
