Taxis & Buses in Sint Maarten

Taxis are priced by zone and public minibuses run the main roads. Here is how fares work, what surcharges to expect, and a calculator to price your trip.

Taxis

Taxi fares are set by zone, not by a meter. A single published fare covers one or two passengers for the whole trip; for three or more, the fare is charged per person, with a separate rate for larger groups of six and up. The official published rates for every zone pair are shown below — pick a side and your route to see the price.

Use the calculator to price a specific trip, including the time of day and any extras.

Surcharges and luggage

Night and public-holiday surcharges, waiting time, extra bags and coolers, and the shared-ride discount are all built into the rates and the calculator above. A few charges are not in the calculator and should be confirmed directly with your driver:

As a rule, one bag per passenger travels free; additional bags and coolers may be charged as shown above. When in doubt, agree the full fare before the trip begins.

Public buses

Shared minibuses run fixed routes along the main roads and are the cheapest way to travel. Flag one down, pay the driver in cash, and tell them where you are going. The published day and night fares for each route are below.
