The garden setting keeps things quiet even though you're minutes from Oranjestad's Historic Core and the airport, and the two-property setup means solo divers, couples, and small families all find a room that fits — a Standard Double for a quick dive trip, a full Apartment for a longer research or heritage stay.

Ask Marie to plate your breakfast on the shared terrace instead of in-room — it's how you meet the other guests, usually a mix of divers, STENAPA volunteers, and government visitors, and how you'll pick up the day's best tip on tide, trail, or truck-stop lunch. Order the garden tea flight if it's offered, and don't skip a papaya from the tree the inn is named for when it's in season.

Statia has no ride-share and taxis are limited, so book a rental car through Marie before you land — she'll coordinate with a trusted local like Antillean Horde and often has the keys waiting at check-in. If you're diving with Scubaqua or Golden Rock Dive Center, mention it when reserving: the inn will set breakfast early so you make the morning boat, and rinse tanks and gear-drying space are easy to arrange in the garden.
