The Experience
Pop's Place isn't trying to be fancy, and that's exactly the point. Perched on the working harbor at Fort Bay, it's the first stop for hungry divers coming off the boat and the last stop for anyone catching the ferry back to St. Maarten. Grab a plastic chair on the waterfront deck, order at the counter, and settle in with a cold Carib while the pelicans dive-bomb the bay in front of you. The vibe is unmistakably Saban — chatty, unpretentious, and slightly sunburned — and on weekends the sound system fires up and the whole place slides from lunch spot into open-air party. If you want to understand how this 5-square-mile island actually socializes, this is where you start.
What to Try
Stick with the seafood — it comes off boats you can literally see from your table. Fresh catch of the day (usually snapper, wahoo, or mahi-mahi), fried fish plates with rice and peas, and conch when it's on. Wash it down with a Carib or a rum punch, and if you're here on a Friday or Saturday night, don't leave before the music starts.

Come off the dive boat and go straight to Pop's without changing — nobody cares, salt in your hair is basically the dress code. And time a late lunch (around 2–3 PM) if you want to actually chat with the owners before the weekend crowd rolls in. Cash goes further than card here, and service runs on island time, so order that second beer before you finish the first.

Location: Fort Bay Harbor, at the bottom of the road from The Bottom — the only port on Saba, so you literally can't miss it if you arrive by ferry.
