Tucked just off the Main Road behind the Artisan Village, this low-key Nevisian kitchen is the kind of place where the owner walks you past the Jamun berry tree on your way to the table ΓÇö and then serves you a juice made from it ten minutes later.
The Experience
Cleveland Gardens is an unfussy, deeply local lunch spot where the 'garden' isn't decoration ΓÇö it's the pantry. Fruits, herbs and vegetables come off the property behind the restaurant, and the owner is often on hand to point out the Jamun, Bajan cherry and soursop trees supplying that day's juices. The vibe is casual neighbourhood diner rather than tourist restaurant: expect a warm welcome, generous plates, and a rotating crowd of Nevisians on their lunch break rather than a curated Instagram scene.
What to Try
The cracked conch with mango aioli is the signature ΓÇö a proper island preparation with a bright, sweet-heat sauce. The salmon fish sandwich (and the regular fish sandwich stacked with onion rings) is the other must-order, and the pumpkin soup is a comforting starter when it's on. Whatever you eat, order at least one fresh juice ΓÇö the Jamun and soursop are the standouts and are made from fruit picked steps away.
