A roadside platform above the Mesopotamia Valley, where banana, dasheen and breadfruit plots quilt the volcanic slopes. It's the one stop here that shows you the island's farming interior instead of its coastline — and it costs nothing but a pause on the drive.

The payoff for driving the windward road to its far end: a waterfall near the island's northeastern tip, beyond where most day tours turn back. Few visitors make it to Owia village, which is exactly why the pool can feel like yours alone.
