The Experience
Landing at ANR Robinson (TAB) feels less like arriving at an international airport and more like being welcomed into someone's coastal village. The terminal is refreshingly walkable — one modest concourse, a handful of gates, and immigration lines that move at island pace. Arrivals often clear customs in under thirty minutes, and because the airport sits right in Crown Point, you can be sinking your toes into Store Bay sand within ten minutes of collecting your bag. Departures have their own quiet rhythm: a small duty-free area with local rum and chocolate, a couple of casual eateries serving doubles and bake-and-shark, and wide windows where you can watch Caribbean Airlines ATRs shuttle over from Piarco. Don't expect glossy megaterminal polish — expect friendly ground staff, ceiling fans doing their share of the work, and a genuine sense that you've arrived somewhere unhurried.
What to Try
Grab a fresh coconut water from the vendors just outside arrivals before you even hail a taxi — it's a Tobago rite of passage. If you've got time before a departure, walk five minutes to Store Bay for a proper bake and shark from Miss Jean's or Miss Trim's, then head back through security. Inside the terminal, pick up a bottle of Angostura 1919 or House of Angostura chocolate at duty-free — both are made in Trinidad and priced better here than abroad.

Domestic hops from Piarco (POS) in Trinidad run roughly every hour on Caribbean Airlines and take just 20 minutes in the air, but the check-in cutoff is a strict 30 minutes before departure and the flights genuinely fill up on Fridays and Sundays — book the inter-island air bridge in advance rather than winging it at the counter. Also: taxi fares from TAB are fixed by zone (posted on a board near the exit), so agree on the destination zone, not a negotiated price, before you get in.
