Leave your bigger luggage locked in the apartment, take only a duffel to the stilt lodges on the lake, and come back to a proper shower, air-con, and your own kitchen — far more comfortable than trying to reset in one of the smaller town guesthouses. Also: bring cash (SRD and small USD notes). ATMs in Nickerie are unreliable, and most tour operators, taxis, and market vendors here don't take cards.
