The Experience
Norrii Zushii feels less like a restaurant and more like a friend's supper club: a small, softly-lit room with just a handful of tables, an open kitchen where every bowl is fired to order, and staff who happily walk first-timers through the menu. The kitchen leans into an Asian-fusion playbook - Japanese, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian flavours - but built around locally sourced Surinamese produce, so the flavours feel familiar and unexpected at the same time. Because it only opens Friday through Sunday evenings and seats fill up fast, dinner here always has a bit of a special-occasion energy, whether you're perched at the bar with a boba cocktail or sharing bento boxes across a candlelit two-top.
What to Try
Start with edamame, gyoza-style dumplings and shrimp tempura to share, then move on to a steaming ramen bowl or one of the rice bentos - both are cooked to order and reliably the standouts. The 'non-raw' sushi rolls (torched, tempura-battered or slow-cooked fillings) are the house signature and a smart pick if you're cautious about raw fish in the tropics, though classic raw nigiri and maki are on the menu too.
