Eric's ATV Adventures: Curaçao's Off-Road Legend
Rip through hidden trails, coastal cliffs, and beach paths on the island's #1 ATV tour.
Why Go
Curaçao's postcard beaches are wonderful, but Eric's shows you the island the cruise crowd never sees — dusty ridgelines, cactus-lined backroads, and pull-offs where the Caribbean spills open below you. It's the rare tour that mixes real off-road driving with genuine local guiding, and repeat visitors book it before their flight.
The Experience
You gear up at the small base off Koraalspechtweg (a short 10ΓÇô15 minute drive from downtown Willemstad, next to La Privada), get a hands-on safety briefing, and roll out in a tight convoy. The East Tour ΓÇö Eric's most popular ΓÇö winds through residential kunuku neighborhoods, climbs the hills above Caracas Bay, and drops onto rocky coastal tracks with sweeping ocean lookouts. Guides set a pace that works for first-timers but leave room for confident drivers to open up on the straightaways. Expect dust, wind in your face, and the kind of unfiltered island scenery you don't get from a coach window.
What to Try
Book the East Tour if it's your first time ΓÇö it's the signature loop and the best mix of trails, neighborhoods, and coastal views. If you want more variety, upgrade to the ATV & Snorkeling combo, which trades a stretch of trail for a stop where you can jump in the water at a quiet cove. Groups traveling together should ask about a private or custom route.
Insider Tip
Wear closed-toe shoes, a bandana or buff, and sunglasses you don't mind getting dusty ΓÇö the coastal trails kick up a lot of coral gravel. Book the earliest slot of the day: the light is softer for photos, the trails are cooler, and afternoon showers won't turn your ride into a mud bath. Bring small cash for a tip; the guides work hard and it's genuinely appreciated.
The Practical Stuff
Location: Koraalspechtweg, next to La Privada, Willemstad — about 10–15 minutes east of downtown along Bapor Kibrá. A valid driver's license is required to operate an ATV; passengers can ride along on select machines. Tours run rain or shine but can be delayed by heavy weather, so build a little buffer into your day. Reserve ahead through Eric's Facebook page or WhatsApp, especially during cruise-ship days and high season.

- Fort Beekenburg & Caracas Bay — You'll glimpse this peninsula from the ATV ridgelines ΓÇö come back on your own to hike the fort ruins and snorkel the wreck of the Tugboat.
- Jaanchie's Restaurant, Westpunt — If the ATV whets your appetite for exploring, drive west another day for iguana stew and old-Cura├ºao charm at this famed roadside institution.
