Tucked along Noordpolderdam on the outskirts of the capital, Caesars Venue plays the role that most of Paramaribo's after-dark spots do: part event hall, part club, part community gathering point. Expect the standard Surinamese formula ??? a big open floor, a bar stocked with Parbo and Borgoe rum, a stage or DJ booth that flips from live band to sound-system depending on the night, and a crowd that skews local rather than tourist. Kaseko, kawina and dancehall dominate the speakers on party nights, but you'll also catch soca takeovers, birthday bashes and the occasional private function that spills onto the street. The vibe is unpretentious ??? dress smart-casual, expect things to only really start moving after 11pm, and know that closing time is more a suggestion than a rule.
