Bar Zuid trades on atmosphere as much as food. The generous outdoor seating spills onto one of Paramaribo's most walkable streets, shaded and softened by lounge music by day and getting properly buzzy after sundown. It opens its doors at 4pm sharp for the local 'borreluur' (happy hour), which is when you'll see the after-work crowd roll in ΓÇö think aid workers, embassy staff, gold-industry types and Paramaribo regulars swapping stories over Parbo beers and rum cocktails. Weekends stretch until 1am and Monday nights bring live Latin music, giving the place a warmer, more festive tempo than most spots in town. What to Try
The kitchen is best known for two things: pizza with a thin, crunchy base and generous toppings (easily shareable between two), and the burgers ΓÇö the Texan-truffle burger is the one regulars order without looking at the menu. Beyond that, the grill turns out solid steaks and satay, and the buffalo wings are a popular pre-dinner nibble.
