What to Try
Ask about the double-cab pickups if you're heading upriver ΓÇö the tray takes jerry cans, a cooler, and a hammock without complaint. If you're staying closer to town, the smaller SUVs are cheaper and still handle the potholed shortcuts to Commewijne and the Jodensavanne road. Time your visit right and you can tag along to one of their weekend off-road events out in the Para district ΓÇö a rare chance to see how Surinamese wrench-heads actually use these trucks.
