Why Go

Some villas frame the view. Villa Wings inhales it. Perched on the St-Jean hillside with its signature wing-shaped rooflines splayed toward the Caribbean, this four-bedroom retreat feels less like a rental and more like a private observation deck for the turquoise arc of Pelican Beach below.

The Experience

Set across three cascading levels, Villa Wings is built for the way you actually want to holiday in St Barth: mornings that start with espresso on a shaded terrace as planes glide into Rémy de Haenen airstrip in the distance, afternoons dissolved into the infinity pool, and dinners at the al fresco island bar where the kitchen literally spills outside. Three of the four king-bedded suites occupy the upper wings (reached via two separate staircases, so guests never bump into each other pre-coffee), while the fourth twin-bedded room tucks in beside the pool for kids, teens, or a fifth couple. An air-conditioned TV lounge handles movie nights, and a dedicated fitness room means your routine doesn't have to hibernate. Every room opens to ocean, so the sea is never more than a glance away.

What to Try

Start the day with a swim in the main infinity pool, then decamp to the smaller plunge pool for a cooler soak once the sun climbs. Book a private chef for at least one dinner and let them work the outdoor kitchen island — it's designed for exactly this kind of theater. Take the five-minute drive down to Nikki Beach or Pearl Beach for lunch, then walk the sand at Pelican and Saint-Jean in the late afternoon when the light turns gold. Sunset cocktails belong on the top terrace, full stop.

Insider Tip

Request the villa in its 2- or 3-bedroom configuration if your group is smaller — the owners rent it flexibly and you'll pay less while still getting the run of the pool, kitchen, and main living wing. Also: the airport is close enough that you'll see the little Twin Otters banking in on approach, which is either a highlight or a reason to book the bedrooms furthest from the flight path. Ask your villa specialist which suites face the runway.

The Practical Stuff

Location: hillside above Saint-Jean, 97133 Saint-Barthélemy, roughly 3–5 minutes by car from the airport, Saint-Jean beach, and the retail strip (A fleur de peau, À Vos Marques). Capacity: up to 8 guests across 4 en-suite bedrooms (three kings, one twin). Amenities: infinity pool, plunge pool, fitness room, air-conditioned TV lounge, fully equipped indoor/outdoor kitchen, air conditioning throughout. A rental car is essential — the driveway is steep and taxis on the island are limited. Gustavia is about a 10-minute drive for nightlife, shopping, and the harbor. Book well ahead for the December–February high season and Christmas/New Year weeks.

Pair It With

  • Nikki Beach Saint Barth — The quintessential Saint-Jean beach club lunch — champagne, sushi, and rosé, five minutes down the hill from the villa.
  • Absolute Hot Yoga Guide — A Gustavia studio for an early-morning class before the day heats up; balances the villa's fitness room with a proper community sweat.
  • 6e SENS Massage Wellness & Beauty — Book an in-villa massage on the pool terrace for a slow afternoon — the therapists travel to you.
  • Abyss Restaurant Guide — A nearby dinner spot when you want a night off from your private chef, without a long cross-island drive.
  • 4 Sea Zone St Barth Guide — On-island transport and boat charters for a day trip to Colombier or Île Fourchue, launching from Gustavia harbor.
