Why Go

Perched on the wind-swept promontory of Pointe Milou, Villa Only View lives up to its name: an unbroken sweep of Caribbean horizon that turns molten every evening, seen from a private heated pool that feels stitched to the sky.

The Experience

This is a contemporary 200 sqm villa built around one idea — the view. Four air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms (three on the main level, one below) share a sleek open-plan kitchen with island breakfast bar, an airy living and dining room, and a lush green lawn that spills toward the pool deck. As the trade winds settle at dusk, guests migrate to the outdoor lounge with its oversized cushioned benches for what feels like a private amphitheatre performance of the sunset. Daily housekeeping keeps everything effortless, and because you book direct with the owner, the tone is more "private home" than "managed rental."

What to Try

Time your arrival for late afternoon so the first cocktail lands on the pool deck as the sun drops. Cook in — the kitchen is designed for it, and the fish counter at Marché U in Saint-Jean is only a short drive down the hill. Take at least one meal at the outdoor dining area rather than inside; the acoustics of the trade winds and the crash of surf below are half the point of Pointe Milou.

Insider Tip

Pointe Milou faces west-northwest, which means the villa catches sunsets year-round but also every rain squall rolling off the Atlantic — pack a light layer for evenings from December to February when the alizés pick up after dark. Ask the owner in advance about pre-arrival provisioning; because there is no agency in the middle, small requests (a specific rosé, a private chef for one night, an airport pickup with 4 Sea Zone) are handled directly and quickly.

The Practical Stuff

Address: 69 rue du Grand Carénage, Pointe Milou 97133, Saint-Barthélemy. Four bedrooms, sleeps up to eight. Roughly 5 minutes by car to Lorient beach, 10 minutes to Gustavia and Saint-Jean, and about 10 minutes to Rémy de Haenen Airport (SBH). Rates from around US$2,053/night depending on season; minimum stays and a security deposit apply. A rental car is essentially mandatory — the hillside road up to Pointe Milou is steep and there is no walkable village.
