The Experience
OCALM (say it out loud — 'oh calm') is exactly what the name promises: a compact luxury villa built around a single air-conditioned king suite with an en-suite bath, an open living room that flows onto a terrace draped in ocean view, and a heated infinity pool that appears to pour straight into the turquoise water below. The living space is dressed in cool whites — two crisp sofas, a large HDTV for lazy afternoons, a well-equipped kitchen, and a dining table that seats six if you want to bring friends up for sunset. Because it's just one bedroom, the villa never feels shared. Days here have a rhythm: espresso on the terrace as the light shifts across the bay, a swim, a slow drive down to Shell Beach or Gouverneur, dinner in Gustavia, then back up the hill to a pool that's still warm at midnight. Lurin sits high above the southwest coast, so you're roughly 10 minutes from Gustavia's harbor and about the same from the airport in Saint-Jean — close enough to be spontaneous, high enough to feel completely removed.
What to Try
Take the first coffee of the morning on the terrace before 7 a.m. — the light on Saint-Jean bay is at its softest and you'll often see the little Twin Otters banking in over the ridge to land at Rémy de Haenen. Cook one dinner in — the kitchen is set up for it and the Marché U or Maya's To Go can stock the fridge. Then plan one long, unhurried evening: sunset swim in the infinity pool, a bottle of rosé from the wine cellars in Gustavia, and dinner delivered or reserved down the hill.

A rental car is not optional here — it's required. Lurin's roads are steep and narrow, taxis are limited and expensive on St. Barth, and the villa's parking is sized for a small vehicle. Reserve a compact (Suzuki Jimny or Fiat Panda class) well before you fly in, especially in high season (mid-December to mid-April). And ask the villa team about a pre-arrival provisioning service — arriving to a stocked fridge, fresh bread, and a chilled bottle of Whispering Angel after the SBH landing is the move.
