Villa Lenalee: A Hillside Hideaway Above Flamands

Four bedrooms, one panoramic pool, and the whole of St Barth's northwest coast at your feet.

Why Go

Perched on the heights above Flamands (despite the Colombier postcode), Lenalee is the kind of villa that makes you rethink hotels. There's no lobby, no check-in queue — just a private drive, a waterfall pool, and an ocean view so wide it feels like the island is performing for you alone.

The Experience

You arrive up a switchback road that justifies every guidebook's insistence on a 4x4, and the reward is immediate: a two-level contemporary estate spread across three floors, with the sea filling every frame. Four king-size suites are tucked across the levels — two masters up top, two more below — so couples travelling together get real privacy rather than polite adjacency. The heart of the villa is the covered terrace, where a dining table for eight sits a few steps from the pool and its little waterfall, and where most guests end up spending 80% of their day. Interiors lean pale, breezy, and contemporary — floor-to-ceiling glass, a proper gourmet kitchen set up for service for sixteen, a fitness room if guilt strikes, and enough sofa space that someone can nap through sunset while the rest of the group opens rosé. Concierge service is included, meaning provisioning, chefs, and boat charters are a text away.

What to Try

Start the day with coffee on the upper terrace before the trade winds pick up, then drive the five minutes down to Flamands Beach — the longest, whitest stretch on the island — for a morning swim. Book a private chef through the concierge at least once: sunset dinner on the terrace, with the pool lit up behind you, is the reason you rented a villa instead of a room. On a lazy afternoon, walk the Colombier trail from Petite Anse to the beach only reachable by foot or boat — twenty minutes each way, and it's the closest thing St Barth has to a secret.

Insider Tip

The lower bedroom (beneath the parking level) is quieter and cooler than the upper masters, so if you're a light sleeper, quietly call dibs before the group divides rooms — the view is nearly identical and you'll thank yourself at 6am when the roosters in the valley start up.

The Practical Stuff

Address: Colombier area, above Flamands, St Barthélemy (GPS pin takes you to a private gate — the villa will send arrival instructions). Getting there: 8 minutes from Gustave III Airport, 10 minutes from Gustavia; a 4x4 is essential, not optional. Capacity: 8 guests across 4 en-suite bedrooms. Rates: roughly USD 7,000–37,000 per week depending on season, with Christmas/New Year commanding the top of the range and shoulder-season (May, June, November) offering the sweet spot. Booking: through MY VILLA IN ST-BARTH or Airbnb; concierge, daily housekeeping, and welcome provisioning are typically included — chef, driver, and yacht day are extra.

Pair It With

  • Flamands Beach — Five minutes downhill, the longest white-sand beach on the island — the natural morning-swim companion to the villa.
  • Colombier Beach hike — The trailhead is a short drive away; a 20-minute walk delivers you to a swim-only cove that feels a world removed from the rental scene.
  • Absolute Hot Yoga (Gustavia) — A 10-minute drive into town for a proper morning class before beach hours begin — a good antidote to villa-terrace inertia.
  • 6e Sens Massage Wellness Beauty — In-villa treatments can be arranged; ideal for post-hike or post-boat-day recovery on your own terrace.
  • Abyss Restaurant Guide — When you finally leave the property for dinner, it's one of the closer standout tables — worth the hillside descent.
