The real magic, though, is the little parking lot behind the office — the only valet parking in central Gustavia. On a Friday night when every visitor on-island is circling the port looking for a space, you glide in, hand over the keys, and walk straight to dinner.
What to Try
Skip the standard compact and take the Suzuki Jimny or a Mini Cabrio — the Jimny handles the steep, narrow climbs to Colombier beach and Petit Cul-de-Sac without drama, and the convertibles turn the loop from Lorient to Grand Fond into the drive you came here for. Pair the rental with Oscar's valet parking package if you're staying more than a few days and plan to eat in Gustavia; the €25 villa delivery is worth it on arrival day so you're not queueing at the airport after a long connection.
Insider Tip
Book weeks — ideally months — ahead for high season (mid-December through March and again around August). The fleet is intentionally small, and the good stuff (Jimny, Bronco, Mini Cooper S) disappears first. If you're arriving by yacht, ask them to hold a valet spot for the evening you plan to dine ashore; it's the single best €-per-headache trade on the island.
