Nikki Beach Saint Barth
Barefoot glamour and rosé-soaked afternoons on Baie de Saint-Jean
Why Go
The white-cushioned, teakwood beach club that turned a Caribbean lunch into an all-day party — and made St Barth's most photographed sunbeds famous.
The Experience
Perched on the powder-soft sand of Baie de Saint-Jean, just minutes east of Eden Rock, Nikki Beach is less a restaurant than a lifestyle in slow motion. You arrive for lunch, order the first bottle of rosé, and somewhere between the tuna tacos and the third house DJ set you realize the sun has swung west. The look is pure Nikki: crisp white daybeds under white parasols, teak decking wrapped around an open-air dining pavilion, turquoise water lapping ten meters from your plate. Corporate Executive Chef Alessandro Pizza's menu leans international with a Caribbean lilt — sushi, ceviches, grilled lobster, the famous rotisserie chicken — but the real headline is atmosphere: saxophonists winding between tables, dancers, champagne showers on cue. Come for a mellow midweek lunch and it feels like a stylish beach lounge; come Sunday and it's the island's most extravagant day-party.
What to Try
The tuna tacos and sushi platters (both crowd favorites), the whole grilled lobster from the raw bar, and the signature rotisserie chicken carved tableside. Anchor the meal with a magnum of Provençal rosé — it's practically the house pour — and finish with a coupe of champagne when the sabering starts.
Insider Tip
Book a front-row daybed at least a week ahead for Amazing Sundays (or two weeks in high season, Dec–early Jan). If you want the party energy without the peak-day minimum spend, come for Rosé Fridays instead — same DJ, same saxophonist-on-the-table moments, noticeably easier to get a good table. Ask for the second row of beds if you'd rather converse than shout.
The Practical Stuff
Baie de Saint-Jean, a 5-minute drive from Gustavia and steps from the airport runway. Beach club open daily 10:30 AM–7:00 PM; restaurant service 12:00 PM–5:00 PM. Reservations essential, especially weekends and signature events: +590 590 27 64 64 or bookings.stbarth@nikkibeach.com. Expect $$$$ pricing — lunch for two with wine easily clears €300, and Sunday daybeds carry a minimum spend. Dress code is 'chic beach': swimwear at the sunbeds, cover-ups (and something a little dressy) for the dining pavilion. Cash rare; major cards accepted.
