Form Fitness St Barth
The island's serious gym, perched above Lurin with a Caribbean view
Why Go
When St Barth's fittest yacht crews, seasonal residents and villa guests need to sweat, they wind up the hill to Lurin — where a two-story training complex trades gimmicks for real iron, real classes and a horizon that goes on forever.
The Experience
Set on the ridge road above Gustavia, Form Fitness feels less like a resort gym and more like a proper training facility that happens to have million-dollar sea views out every window. The two floors pack in a full cardio floor, plate-loaded and pin-selectorized machines, free-weights zones both indoors and out on the terrace, and a covered outdoor area rigged for cross-training. Group studios run a busy timetable of Pilates, yoga, Body Pump, Body Combat, RPM (spin), Abs & Glutes and sculpting classes, and the mood is more athletic than pampered — expect regulars who take their workout seriously alongside villa guests dropping in for a day. It opens at 5:30 a.m. and doesn't close until 10:30 p.m., seven days a week, so early-morning lifts before the heat and post-beach evening sessions are both easy.
What to Try
Book a private session with one of the coaches — they'll program around whatever you've been doing at home, and they'll travel to your villa or yacht if you'd rather train in private. If you're staying a few days, buy the weekly pass and mix a morning class (the Pilates and yoga sessions get strong reviews) with an evening lift on the open-air terrace as the light softens over Gustavia.
Insider Tip
Come early. The 6–8 a.m. window is when the light on the terrace weights area is unreal and the machines are wide open; by 9 a.m. the villa crowd rolls in and the class studios fill up. Also worth knowing: they'll dispatch a trainer to you, so if you're on a boat in Gustavia harbor or a hillside villa you don't actually have to leave — call ahead to arrange.
The Practical Stuff
Route de Lurin, 97133 Saint-Barthélemy. Open daily 5:30 a.m.–10:30 p.m. Phone +590 590 27 51 23. Day passes and weekly passes available at the desk; credit cards accepted. The road up is narrow and twisty — a small car or scooter is easiest, and there's parking on-site. Bring your own water bottle and a towel, though both can be purchased. No dress code beyond standard gym kit.
