Ignore the 'near the airport' framing — Buddha Bar actually lives in Frigate Bay's Island Paradise complex on Zenway Boulevard, a short cab from both SKB and the cruise pier. It's the island's rare hybrid: proper sushi bar downstairs, hookah-and-DJ energy upstairs, and a Thai-Chinese-Japanese menu that keeps the kitchen open long after most Kittitian restaurants have wrapped for the night.
The Experience
Show up at sunset and it reads as a polished Asian-fusion restaurant — chefs slicing nigiri behind the bar, couples splitting bento boxes, cocktails at $8. Stay past 10 and the room shifts: the lights dim, a deep-house DJ takes over, hookah smoke drifts across the lounge, and the crowd tilts local-professional plus in-the-know visitors escaping the resort-strip karaoke scene. On Fridays and Saturdays it runs until 3 a.m., which on St. Kitts is genuinely late — most Frigate Bay 'Strip' bars are winding down by then.
What to Try
The Buddha Bar Bento Box ($35) is the smart order for a first visit — nigiri, sashimi, maki, and a roll on one tray, so you can calibrate what the kitchen does best before committing. If you're going bigger, the Thai Lobster Curry ($35) and the seared Tuna Steak ($40) with edamame and seaweed salad are the standout mains; the Lobster Roll ($17) punches above its price. Skip the Americanized rolls (California, Philly) in favor of the Dragon or Rainbow. Finish with the Banana Spring Rolls or matcha ice cream — dessert is genuinely worth staying for.

Ask the sushi chef what came in fresh that day rather than ordering off the menu — St. Kitts' seafood supply swings with the boats, and the omakase-style off-menu plates are where the kitchen shows off.
