The Experience
Sol EC Ltd is the Nevis outpost of Sol Petroleum, the Caribbean's largest independent fuel marketer, so pulling in feels reassuringly familiar even if it's your first day on-island. Attendants pump for you (self-serve isn't really a thing here), take cash in EC or US dollars, and will happily point you toward Charlestown, Gingerland or the airport if you've unfolded a map on the dashboard. It's an unfussy, functional stop ΓÇö bright canopy, a small convenience shop for cold drinks and phone top-ups, and the low-key island chatter of drivers swapping notes on road conditions after the last rain. For visitors it doubles as a useful landmark: locals give directions relative to the Sol station more often than street names.
What to Try
Top up before any counter-clockwise island loop ΓÇö the west and north side stretches between stations are longer than they look on a 36-square-mile island. Grab a chilled Ting (grapefruit soda) or a Carib from the cooler while the attendant fills you up, and pick up a phone top-up voucher if you're on a local SIM.

Fuel prices are set nationally and posted on the pump, so there's no haggling ΓÇö but tipping the attendant EC $2ΓÇô5 (especially if they clean your windscreen or check your tyres) is genuinely appreciated and can earn you the best unofficial road advice on the island. Fill up before Sunday, when hours shrink island-wide.
The Practical Stuff
Cash (EC preferred, USD accepted at a rounded rate) is the safest bet; card acceptance can be intermittent depending on the connection. Expect standard weekday hours roughly 7amΓÇô7pm with reduced hours on Sundays and public holidays ΓÇö confirm with your villa or hotel front desk before a late run. Diesel, unleaded and LPG cylinder exchanges are typically available.
