The reef starts close in, so bottom time gets spent watching hawksbill turtles graze the seagrass beds, spotted eagle rays flapping past in slow motion, and schools of grunts and parrotfish weaving through coral heads. Because groups stay tiny (often one-on-one), the instructor can actually adjust to your comfort level ΓÇö hover a little longer, swim a little slower, or push a bit deeper if you're ready. Boat dives to further sites can be arranged for certified divers on request, but the shore program is the signature and the reason repeat visitors book here.
What to Try
First-timers should book the Discover Scuba Diving session ΓÇö one guided shore dive with all skills taught on-site, no classroom day required. Vacationers with a week to spare can knock out the full PADI Open Water certification. Certified divers who haven't been wet in a while should ask for the ReActivate refresher before jumping into anything advanced. If you're already comfortable, request a boat dive to Monkey Shoals or the wreck sites off the channel between Nevis and St. Kitts.
