If you'd rather stay dry, book a chef tutorial in your villa's kitchen and learn to make proper Nevisian goat water or saltfish. Also worth doing: an in-villa spa treatment on your own terrace, which beats any spa room on the island.

The ocean villas get the postcard sunsets, but the garden villas are quieter, cooler in the afternoon, and about 20% cheaper - and you're still 90 seconds from the sand. If you're travelling as two couples or a family, ask specifically for a villa adjacent to the beach bar path rather than the far end of the property; the walk back after a long dinner is much shorter and you'll hear the surf from every room. And always request that first breakfast be delivered to the beach, not the villa - it sets the whole trip's tone.
