The Experience
Arriving into Maurice Bishop feels less like landing at an international hub and more like being invited to someone's front porch. The runway hugs the coast at Point Salines, so window seats get a low, slow reveal of turquoise reefs before touchdown. Inside, everything happens on two floors: passport control, baggage, and customs on the ground level; check-in downstairs and a bright, airy departures lounge with duty-free, cafés, and boarding gates up top. Grenada Board of Tourism keeps a staffed information desk in the arrivals hall before immigration — worth a two-minute stop for maps, taxi rate cards, and the day's ferry schedule to Carriacou. Because the terminal is compact, queues move, signage is unambiguous, and by the time you've picked up a bottle of River Antoine rum from duty-free on the way out, you're already smelling nutmeg on the breeze.
What to Try
Grab a Carib or a fresh sorrel juice at the ground-floor café while you wait for bags, browse the duty-free wall of Grenadian rums (Westerhall, Clarke's Court, and the legendary overproof River Antoine), and pick up a small tin of freshly grated nutmeg or a jar of guava jelly from the souvenir stalls upstairs — they're cheaper here than at resort gift shops and travel well.

The airport sits just a five-minute taxi from Grand Anse Beach, so if you land midday with a late check-in, ask your driver to detour there first — most will happily wait an hour for a small extra fare while you swim, and you'll skip the awkward lobby-loitering phase. Also: fixed taxi rates are posted, but always confirm the fare (in EC or USD) before loading bags. Around EC$35 to St George's, EC$25 to Grand Anse.

Location: Point Salines, about 7 km / 4 miles southwest of St George's. One terminal, IATA code GND. Ground-floor tourist info desk open roughly 5:30 AM–10:30 PM. Free Wi-Fi throughout, ATMs and Grenada Co-operative Bank currency exchange in both arrivals and departures, charging points, and accessible restrooms and ramps. On-site car rentals include Hertz, Sixt, Maitland, and Y&R. Fixed-rate taxis via the Progressive Airport Taxi Union (+1 473 444 4296); pre-booked private transfers and a VIP fast-track service are also available. Cash tip: the airport prices in Eastern Caribbean Dollars (EC$), but USD is widely accepted — just expect change in EC.
