While the mega-resorts along Dickenson Bay compete on scale, Siboney has spent decades quietly perfecting the opposite: a family-run boutique with just a handful of suites, hammocks strung between coconut palms, and staff who remember your name by day two.

The Experience

Staying at Siboney feels less like checking into a hotel and more like being handed the keys to a friend's beach house. The whole property is compact enough to cross in a minute, but the tropical garden is layered so densely with hibiscus, sea grape and palms that the outside world melts away the moment you step through the gate. Suites open onto private patios that face either the gardens or the Caribbean, and the sand of Dickenson Bay, one of Antigua's most photographed stretches of powdery white, is a barefoot walk from your door. Days settle into a slow rhythm: sunrise swim, breakfast at Coconut Grove under the thatched roof, an afternoon in a shaded lounger with a rum punch. Because the hotel has only a couple of dozen keys, sunset never feels crowded, and the beach vendors quickly learn you'd rather be left alone with your book.

Book a table at SaltPlage or the on-site Coconut Grove restaurant with your toes almost in the surf, order the grilled local snapper and a Wadadli beer, and stay for sunset, this stretch of the west coast delivers one of the best sundowns on the island. Ask reception to arrange a day on the water with one of the family-run charter operators next door, or walk five minutes up the beach for jet skis, paddleboards and the livelier bar scene, then retreat back to Siboney's quiet end when you've had enough. Don't skip the spa treatment in the garden cabana; it's more affordable than the big resorts and twice as peaceful.

Request one of the upper-floor Ocean View suites when you book, not just for the balcony view of the bay but because the sea breeze cuts the humidity and you'll rarely need the AC. Also worth knowing: Siboney is one of the few Dickenson Bay properties that isn't all-inclusive, which means you can graze at Coconut Grove, wander to Ana's for tapas or grab jerk chicken from a beach shack, keeping the trip far cheaper and tastier than the buffet route.
