The Experience
Set on the sunset-facing side of Cocobay Resort in Saint Mary's, Sheer Rocks is less a restaurant than a mood. You climb down through bougainvillea to a warren of open-air pavilions, four-poster daybeds and private plunge pools carved into the cliff, with the turquoise of Ffryes Bay opening beneath you. Lunches stretch out lazily over tapas-style sharing plates, chilled rosé and a house soundtrack; dinners tighten into a more romantic register — à la carte or tasting menu — timed so the sky is doing its full pink-and-gold performance as the first course arrives. Chef Alex Grimley's kitchen leans hard on fresh, local, seasonal produce, and the service is that particular Caribbean trick of being attentive without ever hovering.
What to Try
Order the tapas menu at lunch and share widely — the kitchen is built for it, with Mediterranean small plates that hop from crisp seafood to vegetable-forward bites (vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are all handled properly, not as afterthoughts). At dinner, the tasting menu is the move if you want to see the kitchen's full range; otherwise pick à la carte and let the sommelier steer the wine. Don't skip the bespoke cocktail list — the bar takes it as seriously as the kitchen.

Book a daybed with a plunge pool for lunch (they go fast in high season ΓÇö reserve weeks ahead) and arrive by 12:30 so you can swim, snack and drift through the afternoon. For dinner, request a table on the lower terrace and time your reservation to sit down about 45 minutes before sunset ΓÇö you want to be on your second course, not still parking, when the sky turns.

Reservations essential (via the website or OpenTable); lunch and dinner service only. Dress is smart-casual beach ΓÇö swimwear is fine at the daybeds, cover up for the dining pavilions. Cash is not king; cards accepted. Steep steps down to the pavilions make it tricky for guests with limited mobility.
