Why Go
A tiny cluster of wooden cottages tucked into the sand on Antigua's southwest coast, Keyonna is the antidote to the megaresort. There are no TVs, no buffets, no lanyards, no evening entertainment schedule to keep — just hammocks, à la carte plates cooked to order, and one of the quietest stretches of powder on the island.
The Experience
You arrive down a dusty lane and the whole place unfolds in about thirty seconds: fifteen or so hand-built cottages, a bar under a thatched roof, a beachside restaurant, and the Caribbean lapping ten steps from your deck. It's intentionally low-key — couples-only, adults-only, and small enough that the staff clock your coffee order by day two. Mornings are for paddleboarding out over the reef before the wind picks up; afternoons drift by in a cabana with a paperback; sunset is the event, taken with a rum punch as the sky over Turner's Beach goes fully theatrical. Because it's all-inclusive but à la carte, meals feel like eating at a friend's house who happens to be a very good cook — the daily specials follow what the fisherman brought in that morning.
What to Try
Book a plunge-pool cottage if you can ΓÇö the private deck plus a cool-down dip is the sweet spot between rustic and resort. Order the catch of the day grilled with local seasonings, and ask the bar for a Wadadli beer at least once (the local brew, and it goes down easy at 88┬░F). Take out a kayak or paddleboard at first light when the water is glass, and don't skip the yoga session on the beach deck. Come sundown, walk five minutes along the sand to the neighbouring beach bars for a change of scenery ΓÇö the whole southwest coast is walkable at low tide.
Insider Tip
The 'no TV, no radio' policy is real and it's the whole point ΓÇö the Wi-Fi works fine in the cottages but is patchy on the beach, which is a feature not a bug. If you want a specific cottage (the beachfront ones with plunge pools go fast), email the resort directly rather than booking through an OTA and ask by cottage number ΓÇö they'll usually accommodate. Also: cash tips in USD or EC are appreciated by staff and go a long way here.
The Practical Stuff
Location: Turner's Beach, southwest Antigua, about a 35–40 minute drive from V.C. Bird International Airport (transfer is easy to arrange in advance). Adults-only (18+), couples-focused, all-inclusive with à la carte dining. Roughly 15 cottages so book well ahead for high season (December–April). Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a good book, and shoes you don't mind getting sandy — you won't need much else. Dress code is barefoot-casual throughout.
Pair It With
