Why Go

Wrapped around a horseshoe-shaped bay with the island's untouched rainforest as its backdrop, Carlisle Bay is where hushed luxury meets barefoot Caribbean ease ΓÇö 82 suites open straight onto white sand, and the loudest thing you'll hear is the surf.

The Experience

Set on the unspoilt south coast about 35 minutes from St. John's and 20 minutes from Nelson's Dockyard, this contemporary all-suite resort feels worlds away from Antigua's busier north. Louvered plantation shutters, cool grey-and-white interiors and pops of colour give the rooms a modern-Caribbean lightness, and everything ΓÇö beach, spa, restaurants, nine tennis courts, the air-conditioned screening room ΓÇö is walkable in flip-flops. Families gravitate to the Beach Suites and the multi-tier kids' clubs; couples tuck into the Ocean Suites and the adults-only Jetty Grill. Complimentary sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding come with the stay, while chartered runs on the resort's FJORD36 motor yacht, Stingray City trips, ziplining and helicopter tours are booked at the concierge.

What to Try

Dinner at East, the Indonesian-inspired restaurant widely rated one of Antigua's best; wood-fired pizza and homemade gelato at poolside Ottimo!; a long lunch at Indigo on the Beach with your toes near the sand; and an ESPA treatment at the CARA Organic Spa followed by a plunge-pool cooldown. Don't skip the daily afternoon tea ΓÇö you can ask to have it served on the beach.

Insider Tip

Ask to have afternoon tea set up on the sand rather than in the lounge, and time your Jetty Grill reservation for sunset ΓÇö it's adults-only, right on the water, and the light hitting the bay at that hour is the postcard shot everyone else misses. If you're travelling with kids, book the earliest kids'-club slot on arrival day so parents can grab a quiet welcome lunch at Indigo.

The Practical Stuff

All-suite luxury resort on Antigua's southwest coast, about 45 minutes by road from V.C. Bird International Airport (transfers arranged by the hotel). Family-friendly with dedicated kids' clubs; also strong for couples and honeymooners thanks to adults-only spaces. Eco-conscious operation ΓÇö single-use plastics and Styrofoam are banned property-wide. Watersports (excluding jet skis), tennis, pickleball, yoga and the screening room are included; spa treatments, chartered boat trips and off-property excursions are extra. Cash isn't needed on-property; charges go to the room.

Pair It With

  • Nelson's Dockyard — Just 20 minutes east ΓÇö a UNESCO-listed Georgian naval yard that pairs a rainforest-and-beach stay with a proper dose of Antiguan history.
  • Adventure Antigua — Family-run since 1999, their private charters and eco tours are the classic way to see the island's coastline and reefs beyond the bay.
  • Stingray City Antigua — An easy half-day trip the concierge can arrange ΓÇö snorkel and wade with southern stingrays in waist-deep water off the northeast coast.
  • Shirley Heights Lookout — Sunday-evening steel band and BBQ high above English Harbour ΓÇö the quintessential Antigua sundowner, a short drive from the resort.
