The Experience
BeachLimerZ sits right on the powdery sand of Fort James Beach, one of Antigua's most storied stretches of coastline just north of St. John's. The dining room is really two rooms: a rustic ground-level bar built from local hardwoods where you can eat with your toes buried in the sand, and a breezy upper deck that opens onto sweeping views of the turquoise Caribbean and passing cruise ships. It's family-run and unmistakably local ΓÇö you'll find Antiguan office workers on lunch break next to sunburned honeymooners next to boat crews stopping in for a rum. The soundtrack is reggae by default, live-band boisterous on Sunday nights, and DJ-driven on Fridays when the after-work crowd rolls in and the bar spills onto the sand.
What to Try
Order the coconut shrimp ΓÇö plump, crisp, and served with a sweet-hot dipping sauce that's become the house calling card. The jerk chicken is properly smoky rather than sweet, and the daily catch (usually mahi or snapper) comes grilled whole with a squeeze of lime and a side of rice and peas or plantain. For drinks, skip the frozen tourist stuff and ask for a rum punch made with local Cavalier or English Harbour rum; the bartenders pour with a heavy hand.

Time your visit to the music: Sunday evenings from 8pm the Cutting Edge Band plays live on the upper deck ΓÇö arrive by 7pm to grab a rail seat before the sunset crowd fills in. If you'd rather a party, Friday nights with DJ Irish run late and pull a mostly-local crowd. For a quieter meal, weekday lunches (TueΓÇôWed close at 4pm) are the calmest window.
