The Experience

Antigua Village is a low-rise cluster of about 45 individually owned studios, one-bedroom suites and villas scattered through tropical gardens right on Dickenson Bay, the island's most famous beach on the northwest coast just north of St. John's. Because every unit is privately owned and decorated, no two stays feel quite alike — some are breezy and beachy, others polished and modern — but all come with a full kitchen or kitchenette, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The vibe is relaxed and self-catering rather than resort-regimented: mornings start with coffee on your patio, days drift between the freshwater pool and the calm, swimmable bay, and evenings mean strolling the sand to one of the beach bars and restaurants that line Dickenson Bay. It's the kind of place repeat visitors return to year after year, greeted by name by a famously warm staff.

What to Try

Book a beachfront unit and eat at least one breakfast on your patio watching the catamarans head out across the bay. Stock your kitchen from the on-site convenience store, then walk the full length of Dickenson Bay at sunset — it's one of Antigua's great free experiences. From mid-November to March, join the free weekly yoga session, and try the watersports operators right on the beach for jet skis, paddleboards or a catamaran day-sail to Bird Island.

Insider Tip

Units are individually owned, so quality varies more than at a standard hotel — before booking, ask specifically for a recently renovated beachfront or pool-view unit rather than accepting a generic room category. Self-catering is the money move here: hit the Epicurean supermarket near St. John's on arrival day for a proper grocery run, since the on-site store is best for top-ups, not full provisioning.

Located on Dickenson Bay, about 10–15 minutes' drive north of St. John's and roughly 20 minutes from V.C. Bird International Airport. Free parking and Wi-Fi; outdoor freshwater pool, gardens, laundry service and luggage storage on site. All units have kitchens or kitchenettes and private bathrooms. Mid-range pricing for Antigua, with the best rates in low season (roughly May–November). Taxis are easy to arrange, and a rental car helps if you plan to explore beyond the bay.
