Sur La Plage Villas: Barefoot Luxury on Meads Bay
Two private beachfront villas on one of the Caribbean's top ten beaches
Why Go
While Anguilla's resorts fill their beach rows with matching umbrellas, Sur La Plage hands you two acres of Meads Bay sand almost to yourself. These two privately-owned villas sit directly on the beach ΓÇö no lobby, no check-in line, just your own porch and the turquoise stretch that keeps landing on best-beach lists.
The Experience
Sur La Plage is a pair of fully furnished beachfront homes rather than a hotel. The East Villa offers four bedrooms across two acres of beachfront property, with a studio apartment that can be folded into the rental or occasionally taken separately. The West Villa, a two-bedroom that doubles as the owners' residence, adds a sunken Jacuzzi bath and a wraparound porch with water views, and can be rented together with the East Villa for larger groups. Days here follow the villa rhythm: coffee on the porch, a slow walk down Meads Bay, lunch you either cook in the fully equipped kitchen or grab at one of the beach restaurants a few minutes' stroll away. Maid service six days a week keeps things effortless without feeling intrusive.
What to Try
Book both villas together for a family gathering ΓÇö up to six bedrooms plus the studio across a shared stretch of private beachfront. Claim the provided beach chairs and umbrellas early, then walk the full sweep of Meads Bay at golden hour; it's arguably Anguilla's best sunset stroll. Arrange spa services down-beach, or use the villa as a base for the nearby golf, horseback riding, cycling and scuba diving.
Insider Tip
The West Villa's wraparound porch and sunken Jacuzzi make it the sleeper pick for couples ΓÇö but since it's the owners' part-time residence, availability is limited, so enquire well ahead. Also ask about renting the East Villa's studio on its own; when offered, it's one of the more affordable ways to sleep directly on Meads Bay.
The Practical Stuff
Located directly on Meads Bay beach in Long Bay Village, on Anguilla's northwest coast ΓÇö about 15 minutes' drive from Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport and the Blowing Point ferry from St. Martin. Villa rental (not a resort): rates vary by villa, season and length of stay, so book direct and early for winter dates. Includes fully equipped kitchens, six-days-a-week maid service, and beach chairs and umbrellas. A rental car is recommended for exploring the island, though several well-known restaurants are within walking distance.
Pair It With
- Blanchards Beach Shack — Casual toes-in-the-sand lunch a short walk down Meads Bay ΓÇö the easy counterpoint to villa cooking.
- Jacala Beach Restaurant — French-Caribbean fine dining right on the same beach, perfect for a no-drive dinner night.
- ALAK Art Gallery — A nearby stop for local Anguillian art ΓÇö a low-key excursion that fits the villa pace.
