Eight of the eleven budget spots we screened sit in the capital's compact grid — a rotisserie counter, a snackette, a cluster of small bakeries — all within a short walk of the sea wall. The outliers are the interesting ones: a snack-bar in Eggleston, a village in the heights about ten minutes' drive above town near the Wotten Waven sulphur springs, and an ice cream parlour up the west-coast road in St Joseph.
The real choice is town versus valley.
